To encourage the development of a vibrant and prosperous downtown district by:
- By promoting and marketing the area.
- By undertaking initiatives and projects.
Who Are We?
In the spring of 2004 a small group of business people formed a steering
committee towards the development of a Business Improvement District (BID) in
the Downtown Prince Albert. The association was incorporated on March 15
2004 and signed a funding agreement with the City of Prince Albert on March 29th 2004
We are a Non Profit Organization governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of Property Owners and Business persons from
the area defined in the City Bylaw and at least one member of city council.
Our Goals
- To create
an attractive environment.
- Establish a safe and clean business district
- Beautification projects
- To create an organization that represents the collective interests of the "Downtown" stakeholders.
- Serving as an advocate for policies and programs that promote a strong Central Business District.
- To re-establish property values.
- Attract new business to the district.
- Infrastructure and store front facade initiatives
- Historical Building preservation
- To improve traffic and ultimately revenue in the downtown core.
- Establish the district as the Core Business District for Central and Northern Saskatchewan.
- Develop a recognizable theme for the area
- Promotions, Events and Advertising
- Establish the district as a tourist destination
- To secure the revenue required to achieve these goals.
- Revenue through tax levy on properties within the defined district.
- Grants in Lieu of property tax levy from tax exempt properties.
