Santa Clause is coming to Downtown!
After a roughly six year hiatus, there will be a parade in the city this fall.
PADBID Vice-Chair Evert Botha said the idea for the event came from the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID), and they have since partnered up with the Gateway Mall.
“We’ve put out the calls for participants, and floats, and characters, and vehicles and any business in the greater Prince Albert area to join us for this unique event,” Botha said.
There was a lot of successful events in the downtown this year like the street fair and the urban art tour, and they wanted to do something for the holiday season.
The city’s public works department has approved the proposed route through the downtown area.
Botha also confirmed PADBID has sent an invite to Santa Claus himself.
“We did send a message up the line to Mrs. Claus and she said ‘hell yeah,’” he said.
Botha said he would like to make this parade bigger and better than any parade before it, but he is just as happy seeing it happen.
“Whether it’s a mascot or a vehicle or a float, we’re definitely going to have some movement on Central Ave. that morning of Nov. 26,” he said.
Anyone interested in entering a float for the parade, can contact the PADBID office or the Gateway Mall.
The scheduled date for the parade is Nov. 26.
