Seeking Youth Art Submissions!

Seeking Youth Art Submissions!

Beginning October 4, 2016, the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID)  launched the “Find Your Place Downtown” crowdfunding project, to direct people to and identify with the historic, cultural, and social centre of our city and the region. This initiative will provide a new visual identity for our city centre through the placement of distinct street, pedestrian, gateway, and wayfinding signs throughout downtown Prince Albert and on major roadways to direct residents and visitors to attractions and destinations. The design of these signs will incorporate images from our past, reflecting the long history of our community, as well as modern designs created by our youth that reflect how the future of our community view the past, present, and future of Prince Albert.

To help create these important landmarks for the downtown of Prince Albert, PADBID and its partners are inviting the youth of Prince Albert to enter works in the Find Your Place Downtown Youth Art Competition. Using any media they choose, we ask young artists to create images and artwork on their interpretations of this community’s history and downtown region, with winning entries to be printed on the backs of the wayfinding signs in downtown Prince Albert.  All entries will also be featured in a public art exhibit, sponsored by PADBID and its partners, which will celebrate and promote our youth’s vision of Prince Albert’s past, present, and future.

This competition invites all Prince Albert and area residents between the ages of 16 and 29 years to enter art works from a variety of media (photography, painting, and illustration), and will be open from October 17, 2016 to January 31, 2017. All works should be made in an 8 ½ x 11 inch format, and be suitable for enlargement.

Entries selected through this submission will have  their works placed on at least one wayfinding sign within downtown Prince Albert, in addition to other fantastic prizes. To enter- download the ThisPlaceMatters Art Entry Form
